Beating yourself up for a small misstep
Obsessing over an imperfection of your body
Focusing on the ways in which you fall short of your goals
Negative thought loops like these can keep us in a downward cycle and feeling stuck. We can feel chronically defeated and even unworthy.
In contrast, when we think purposefully, accept, and even celebrate our human-ness and stop expecting perfection of ourselves, things can begin to spiral upward. When we are working on positive changes to our health habits, (e.g. being more physically active, eating a cleaner diet of whole foods, and managing our stress in positive ways) we can experience a transformative shift.
When we acknowledge our efforts towards change, regardless of the size of the effort, we begin to feel more capable and in control of our health. A confident traction starts to build.
At the end of our days, pausing to reflect on the steps we’ve made to care for ourselves opens a door for greater self-care routines to unfold.
My invitation to you:
· Kick habitually self-defeating thought patterns to the curb and think on purpose.
· Release thoughts about being perfect; focus instead on becoming a better version of you.
· Dwell on your achievements no matter how small they might seem.
· Mix time with patience and consistency to get to where you want to go.
To your good health!
