’Best of 2018’ lists are in abundance this time of year; What's on your personal highlight reel?
As we look back at the 12 months that were, it's important to reflect on how far we've come and celebrate our accomplishments with our health. With all the demands on our time and attention, it's easy to slip into a kind of default mode with our health and not be intentional with our habits (Ie eating well, exercise and stress management). If you've not 'defaulted', give yourself a well-deserved high-five.
If perhaps your habits aren't supporting your health, it's a good time to assess if they are hindering it. Consider how you might slay the obstacles between the 'now you' and your 'best self you' and challenge yourself to shift to a healthier place in the new year.
My hope is that in whatever shifts you make, that you approach goal setting with a realistic eye and build consistency. It's extreme states and quick-fix diets with promises of fast results that lead us down paths that often leave us worse off than where we started.
The 'inconvenient truth' of healthy living is that it requires a great deal of intention and effort.
We each have one body to carry us through our lifetimes. When we care for ourselves intentionally, the rewards are great.
To your good health!
